Topeekeegee Yugnee Park
Topeekeegee Yugnee Park, commonly referred to as “TY Park”, is a 138+-acre park in Hollywood that means “gathering place” in the native Seminole language. TY Park has many amenities including picnic shelters, a Fitness Zone, playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, and volleyball. A two-mile loop of paved pathways around the park are perfect for walking, jogging, skating, and biking. One and two-seat bicycles may be rented within the park if you don’t want to bring your own bikes. If you are interested in interacting with nature, try renting a johnny boat, kayak, canoe or paddleboat at the Marina for up to 4 hours. Fishing can be done from the shore of the lake, from rental boats, and from the fishing pier. License required for ages 16 and up. Catch-and-release encouraged. Before going fishing, check out this guide to the best fishing waders https://www.globosurfer.com/best-fishing-waders/.
The gem of the park is the seasonally open Castaway Island Water Park, generally open March to October every year. Castaway Island has a water playground for young children 5 and under, a lagoon/swimming pool with a waterfall and a big kid water playground with dumping buckets and slides. The lagoon used to be a sand-bottomed pool that was replaced in 2007 with a hard-bottomed zero entry swimming pool. Save money by arriving after 3pm for a reduced entry fee or buy a seasonal pass for the Broward County water parks (there are 4) and come as often as you’d like! TY Park has so much to offer, you may want to consider pulling up your RV and enjoying an overnight at the park to fully enjoy all it has to offer. The park has 61 paved RV sites, each with 50-amp electrical service, water, sewer, a grill, and a picnic table. The air-conditioned restroom building includes hot showers and laundry facilities, and there is a dump station. Reservations required. Primitive camping may be reserved for use by non-profit groups, contact the park office for details.
